Chukwuma Theophilus Oguchi retired from ExxonMobil Upstream September 2020 as a Development Planning Advisor after 24 years with the company. Currently, a Senior Consultant Development Planning with Reservoir and Facilities Solutions Limited focusing on pre-concept studies, asset enhancement, divestment and acquisition studies. Theo brings a unique ability in combining technical insights with business acumen in opportunity evaluation and decision making to the team leveraging his experience in multiple basins and business units covering seven countries (Nigeria, USA, Australia, Egypt, Equatorial Guinea, Abu Dhabi and Kazakhstan).

Theo joined Mobil Producing Nigeria Unlimited in July 1996 as a Reservoir Engineer and held various Leadership and Technical roles during his career with ExxonMobil both in Nigeria and the United States. Some of the most recent roles include Development Planning Advisor, Senior Technical Professional (Mature Fields), Principal Development Planning (Conventional fields), Select Stage Manager Mozambique LNG Full Field Development, Acting Nigeria Development Planning Manager, Select Stage Manager Yoho Gas Pipeline, Select Stage Manager Nigeria Deepwater, Asset Development Planning Supervisor and Supervisor Reservoir Technology Group.

As a Select Stage Manager / Development Planning Advisor on several opportunities / projects, Theo managed opportunities in the excess of $40 billion, with scope including progressing opportunities / projects through concept evaluation by integrating all the functional work-scope / studies (Drilling, geoscience, facilities engineering, reservoir engineering studies, cost & schedule, economics, commercial etc.) to select the lead concept based on set criteria before commencing FEED. These represent the activities from pre-Gate 1(business case) to Gate 2 (concept selection). His role also included conducting studies on producing assets to identify how to maximize asset value or determine the timing for asset divestment or abandonment, and evaluation of assets / blocks / exploration opportunities to support acquisition and drilling decisions.

Theo is a graduate of Petroleum Engineering (1991) from Federal University of Technology Owerri. He attended both professional and leadership courses in Nigeria, UK, France and United States of America. Some of the courses include Advance Leadership Program (Thunderbird Arizona), General Leadership Program (Thunderbird Arizona), Influencing and negotiating with Governments, Subsea Engineering, Supply and Transportation Seminar, Cost Engineering, Offshore and Arctic Engineering, International and Petroleum Systems, Enterprise Leadership Program (INSEAD France), Profitability Analysis, Reservoir Geology and Reservoir engineering. Theo is a member of Society of Petroleum Engineering (SPE).
